Established back in 1974 , our aim is to ensure you look great at your party ! We may not be the cheapest , we may not have every item in stock , however we are a family run business who strive and do our best to provide a good service . We try and stock something for every occasion , in every size - with over £150,000 worth of stock we'd love your custom .

We hear of so many customers who have been let down or disappointed by outfits ordered from the Internet - we select lines on both quality and value for money , some outfits look great in suppliers glossy photos , but are rubbish in real life so we do not stock them .

With stores in Ossett, Wakefield and Fulford, York, we urge people to call in and visit - we have a wide choice in store with costume lines not shown on this web site and it gives you the opportunity to try on and see the quality of the items you choose . With outfits both to hire or buy , wigs , masks and costume accessories we have things for all budgets .

If you order on line , we keep you informed , dispatch the order quickly and offer a returns policy should an item not be suitable .

Fantasy World is not just "work" to us , its a way of life - a fun place to be and its great to see people getting into a party mood .

The business was started by my Grandfather back in 1974 , he was an estate agent who had tenant ,an actor who could not afford his rent . My grandfather arranged to take a load of theatre costumes from him in lieu of rent and put them on a rail in the corner of his estate agents , he then put an advert in the York Evening Press to try and get rid of them . The advert brought in over 400 enquiries , so my Grandmother then decided to try it as a business and Fantasy World was opened .
I took over the business from my Grandparents when I was 16 , and we opened a second branch in Ossett near Wakefield in 2001 . We enjoy working as a small independent family run business , and are currently working on the massive task of photographing most of our 3000 hire costumes to catalogue them on this site .

I do get requests daily from charities , as fundraising events often involve fancy dress . Rather than pick and choose between the good causes we offer a standard Charity discount to EVERY charity , and I will always do my best to help - again please email me with your requirements .
